Renowned poster design and toy company MONDO has revealed a new product based on the film "Godzilla vs. Hedorah" (ゴジラ対ヘドラ) – the "Hedorah Pollution Glow-in-the-Dark Variant" sofubi figure. Priced at $160 and limited to just 150 pieces, this exclusive collectible will be available for purchase only at the MONDO booth (#5137) during the annual San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), held from July 23-26, 2026, at the San Diego Convention Center!
Hedorah, who first appeared in the 1971 film "Godzilla vs. Hedorah," was originally a mineral from space that transformed into a pollution monster after absorbing excessive harmful waste discharged from factories. While depicted as a dark, foul-smelling waste creature in the movie, a wide variety of colorful Hedorah sofubi figures were released after the film's debut, driven by considerations for overseas toy sales and product profitability. Collectors familiar with sofubi are undoubtedly no strangers to these vibrant Hedorah variations!
This "Hedorah Pollution Glow-in-the-Dark Variant" appears to utilize the same Hedorah sculpt by MONDO Art Director Hector Arce, originally released in March as part of the "Godzilla & Hedorah Set." Standing approximately 24.1 cm (9.5 inches) tall, this new version is cast in glow-in-the-dark vinyl, meticulously recreating Hedorah's iconic eyes. It features a stunning gradient paint application of light blue and pale gray, giving it a powerful presence whether under light or in darkness, offering a completely different visual effect from the original color scheme. Furthermore, the packaging features a classic sofubi clear bag, with header card artwork specially drawn by renowned American minimalist retro illustrator Tom Whalen. Both the figure and its packaging are highly collectible, making this a must-have for any toy enthusiast attending SDCC!
