BANDAI SPIRITS' collector's toy division, TAMASHII NATIONS, is set to release the latest entry in their "S.H.Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou" series, known for sculpting tokusatsu heroes from the skeletal structure up to achieve screen-accurate forms and natural articulation. The new figure, "Ultraman (A-Type) -The Birth of Ultraman-" from the popular tokusatsu series "Ultraman," is slated for a March 2027 release!
The original Ultraman first appeared on July 10, 1966, in the TV special "The Eve of Ultraman: The Birth of Ultraman." Sixty years later, this brand-new product commemorates Ultraman's 60th anniversary! For this release, body data from the original suit actor, Bin Furuya, was scanned. With assistance from Tsuburaya Productions' LSS modeling department, the prototype was crafted by Minoru Narita, who also worked on the "S.H.Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Ultraman Tiga" series. Considering the era of black-and-white television, the color scheme was meticulously chosen and adjusted by the production team to replicate the hues audiences would have perceived on screen at the time, aiming to faithfully reproduce Ultraman's original color style!
Unlike previously released figures such as the "S.H.Figuarts Ultraman (A-Type)" and the "S.H.Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Ultraman," this new "Shinkocchou Seihou" rendition of the A-Type, affectionately known as the "Sulfur Face," is a completely new sculpt. A direct comparison reveals significant differences in articulation. Soft parts are utilized throughout, achieving an exceptionally wide range of motion. The figure meticulously recreates the wrinkles and folds of the actual suit, while the distinctive head sculpt and the peeking holes beneath the eyes are also faithfully reproduced. It comes complete with six and a half pairs of interchangeable hands, a Spacium Ray effect part, and a special 60th-anniversary black-and-white display base, making it an absolute must-have commemorative item!
