The DC Universe's new live-action "Green Lantern" reboot, "Lanterns," is set to premiere soon on HBO. The first four episodes of the series were recently screened privately for media and critics. As expected, some plot details and major spoilers quickly leaked online. For instance, someone who had seen the initial four episodes posted several key plot points on Reddit yesterday.

The poster revealed that the first season of "Lanterns" primarily follows two timelines: one set in 2016 and another in 2026, with the main plot revolving around the search for the alien robotic race, the Manhunters. However, the most shocking revelation for fans was that Kyle Chandler's character, Hal Jordan, one of the lead Green Lanterns, is reportedly killed off at the end of the very first episode.

Other sources who have seen the initial four episodes have since corroborated these leaks. While some commenters speculated that Hal might be resurrected in later episodes, the original poster reiterated that Hal's death is permanent.

Beyond the spoilers, renowned entertainment journalist Jeff Sneider discussed the overall buzz he's heard about "Lanterns" on his podcast, "The Hot Mic." Sneider expressed strong confidence that "Lanterns" will resonate well with audiences, noting that the worst feedback he's encountered so far has only been that the show is "just okay," with no harsher criticisms.
