Last week's North American box office results are in, revealing a challenging landscape for IP-driven films. While the live-action "Moana" topped the charts, its performance was significantly below expectations, mirroring the disappointing run of the live-action "Snow White" (for more details, click here). Beyond "Moana," another IP title facing an uphill battle was "Evil Dead Burn," the sixth installment in the "Evil Dead" franchise.

"Evil Dead Burn" debuted last week with a modest $13.7 million at the North American box office. This figure represents a significant drop of nearly half compared to its predecessor, "Evil Dead Rise," which opened to $24 million. Internationally, "Burn" added $13.3 million, bringing its global opening weekend total to $27 million. On a more positive note, with a production budget of just $20 million, the film is still poised to recoup its costs.

Meanwhile, after nearly three months in theaters, the Michael Jackson biopic "Michael" has finally crossed the $1 billion mark globally, solidifying its place as the highest-grossing biographical film in cinematic history. The film has amassed $629 million from international markets and $371 million domestically, bringing its worldwide cumulative gross to approximately $1.001 billion.
