Japanese model kit manufacturer Kotobukiya has announced the upcoming release of a new product in their popular mecha girl assembly model series, "Megami Device." The "Yggdrasil Garmr Ripper Avalanche" is slated for release in November 2026.
The brand-new character series, "Yggdrasil," is designed by illustrator Nidy-2D-, known for creating popular lines such as the "Shura Series" and "Koubu Series." Shifting its theme from Japanese mythology to the deities and legendary creatures of Norse mythology, the series integrates various modern military armaments. Built upon the "Machineca Block2-M body" designed by sculptor Masaki Apsy, these characters boast flexible articulation and the full charm of their original artwork. The first unit, "Garmr Ripper," draws its inspiration from Garmr, the watchdog of Helheim in Norse mythology.
The Megami Device "Yggdrasil Garmr Ripper Avalanche" is a modified version of the previously released standard kit. Compared to the original's more serious demeanor, the Avalanche type features a new hair color and three newly designed expression parts by Nidy-2D-, showcasing a playful and cute appearance. The entire body armor's molding color has also been adjusted to a snow camouflage gray-white scheme, and it includes new connector parts that allow the rifle and dagger to be combined into a gunblade mode.
The exterior armor features a practical design, with the legs inheriting the precise mechanical aesthetics of the Shura Series, now with an even more refined parts composition. Its armament includes an assault rifle, multiple daggers, night vision goggles, and magazine pouches, among other modern military gear. The rifle can be disassembled into a handgun, while the daggers can be combined with the backpack to form a massive protective glove resembling a beast's claw. All weapon parts are freely detachable, allowing collectors to recreate the elegant "Unarmed Mode" or the cool, armed silhouette of the "Armed Mode." Coupled with the flexible and natural articulation of the Block2-M body, a wide array of dynamic weapon-wielding poses can be achieved.
