The iconic animated music group The Chipmunks, a pop culture staple for over half a century, has been active for 68 years, releasing countless singles and albums, and starring in numerous films and television series. For modern audiences, the most familiar iteration is undoubtedly the "Alvin and The Chipmunks" live-action/CGI film series, which launched in 2007. This franchise saw four installments released between 2007 and 2015, before going dormant for over a decade.

However, the "Alvin and The Chipmunks" series is now showing signs of a revival. The Wall Street Journal reports that Big Shot Pictures, led by former Paramount Pictures CEO Brian Robbins, has acquired a 25% stake in the franchise and is actively developing a brand-new "Alvin and The Chipmunks" reboot film.

The new movie is slated for release in late 2028. Before its debut, Big Shot Pictures plans to kick off a social media campaign in the latter half of this year, releasing various "Alvin and The Chipmunks"-related short videos to build early buzz and attract new fans. Additionally, Big Shot Pictures today unveiled a new look for Alvin, one of the series' main characters (pictured above).
