World-renowned Hong Kong toy brand Unbox Industries has today unveiled a monumental new project three years in the making: the Junji Ito’s『Tomie: Monster』 statue! This terrifying masterpiece was sculpted by the acclaimed artist Marin and personally supervised by Junji Ito himself. Fans will get their first look and a chance to pre-order this chilling collectible at the Hong Kong Animation-Comic-Game Fair (ACGHK) from July 24 to 28, 2026.
The design for "Tomie: Monster" is inspired by the short story "Mansion" (屋敷) from Junji Ito’s "Tomie" series. Originally published in the June 1990 issue of the horror shojo manga magazine "Monthly Halloween," it was later collected in the first volume of "Junji Ito's Horror Comic Collection: Tomie" in 1997. In this chilling tale, a doctor in a mysterious mansion conducts horrifying experiments on Tomie's unnatural regenerative abilities. He uses the landlord's daughter as a test subject, injecting her with Tomie's bodily fluids. Tomie's terrifying, infinitely proliferating characteristics ultimately cause the poor girl to undergo a grotesque transformation, turning her into a truly horrifying and unsettling monster.
