Warner Bros. Pictures announced last night that "The Batman: Part II," already delayed for years, has been pushed back again, now set to release on February 18, 2028. However, the October 1, 2027 slot vacated by "The Batman: Part II" won't remain empty. Warner Bros. quickly added that J.J. Abrams' latest original fantasy epic, "The Great Beyond," will take over that release date.

This also means "The Great Beyond" itself has been delayed, as it was originally slated for release on November 13 this year, forcing fans to wait an additional year.

The cast of "The Great Beyond" features a star-studded lineup including Glen Powell, Jenna Ortega, Emma Mackey, Samuel L. Jackson, and Merritt Wever.

Reportedly, Jackson portrays a bestselling fantasy novelist whose mythical world, created in his books, turns out to be a real-life realm. He dispatches Powell's character, Joe, on an unexpected adventure to explore this fantastical domain. Joe is described as a high school washout who peaked in his glory days and whose life has stagnated since graduation. It's only when he's drawn into this adventure that Joe is forced to confront his fears and become the hero he never imagined he could be. Ortega plays a nerdy yet knowledgeable spiritual guide who helps Joe navigate various dangers, while Mackey takes on the role of the calm, capable, and charismatic female lead.

Warner Bros. also made other adjustments to its release calendar. For instance, "Panic Carefully," directed by "Mr. Robot" creator Sam Esmail, has been moved from February 26, 2027, to April 9, 2027. Conversely, the sequel to "The Curse of La Llorona," which was originally slated for April 9, 2027, has been brought forward to February 26, 2027.

Meanwhile, at Sony Pictures, the sequel to "The Social Network," currently set for an October 9 release this year, also faces a potential delay. The production was recently spotted conducting emergency reshoots with cast members. With the film slated for release in just three months and a Venice Film Festival premiere in September, doubts are rising about whether post-production can be completed in time.
