TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS, is set to release the latest addition to its "S.H.Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou" line – a series renowned for sculpting tokusatsu heroes from the skeletal structure up, ensuring screen-accurate proportions and natural articulation. Following the black-and-white prototype reveal a few days prior, the highly anticipated "Ultraman (A Type)" from the popular tokusatsu series "Ultraman" has been officially announced! This figure is slated for a February 2027 release.
First appearing in 1966, Ultraman, often referred to as "Shodai" (First Generation), tells the story of an alien from Nebula M78 who arrives on Earth to pursue the space monster Bemular. After accidentally causing the death of Science Patrol member Shin Hayata, Ultraman, out of guilt, merges with Hayata to save his life. Thus began their joint mission to protect Earth.
The "S.H.Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Ultraman (A Type)" stands at 15 cm tall. For this release, the body data of suit actor Bin Furuya was scanned, and the prototype was crafted by Minoru Narita, who previously worked on the "Shinkocchou Seihou Ultraman Tiga" series, with assistance from Tsuburaya Productions' LSS modeling department. Unlike previous releases such as the "S.H.Figuarts Ultraman (A Type)" and the "S.H.Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Ultraman", this new figure fully recreates the "A Type" — often nicknamed the "Sulfur Face" — with entirely new sculpting under the Shinkocchou Seihou methodology. A direct comparison reveals significant differences in articulation. Soft parts are utilized in various sections to achieve an exceptionally wide range of motion. The entire body faithfully reproduces the wrinkles and folds of the actual suit, and the distinctive head sculpt, including the peeking holes beneath the eyes, is perfectly replicated. The figure comes with six and a half pairs of interchangeable hands, Spacium Ray effect parts, Ultra Shower effect parts, and a red Color Timer replacement part.
