The TAMASHII NATIONS collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS company has announced the latest addition to its robot-themed action figure line, the "ROBOT Damashii ver. A.N.I.M.E." series. Coming from "Mobile Suit Gundam MSV," the "GM Trainer" is slated for release in December 2026.
The TGM-79 GM Trainer is a training mobile suit developed by the Earth Federation Forces to educate pilots following the deployment of their main mass-produced unit, the RGM-79 GM. While its basic performance mirrors that of a standard GM, the Trainer's primary role in honing piloting skills meant certain armor and armaments were omitted. Its most distinctive features include a transparent chest window allowing observation of internal and external conditions, a two-seater cockpit designed to accommodate both an instructor and a trainee, and a full body armor scheme painted in the characteristic orange and white colors of a training unit.
The "ROBOT Damashii GM Trainer ver. A.N.I.M.E." is based on the previously released standard GM specifications, maintaining the anime-accurate silhouette. It incorporates numerous newly sculpted parts to recreate the distinct head, shoulders, chest, hips, and knee armor. The two-seater cockpit canopy is also faithfully reproduced using clear parts. The entire mobile suit is repainted in the characteristic orange and white training unit colors, with "7" markings printed in various locations.
The mobile suit boasts a built-in articulated chest joint, an interlocking leg armor mechanism, and a wide range of motion in its limbs, allowing for dynamic and natural posing. It comes with a rich array of accessories, including a Beam Spray Gun, shield, Hyper Bazooka, and Beam Saber. Furthermore, various beam and jet propulsion effects are included to enhance the realism of battle scenes.
