According to the official synopsis: "As war sweeps across England, a leader rebelling against the tyranny of Richard II assembles a civilian army to challenge the king's formidable forces, fighting for justice and survival." The film is reportedly based on the historical leader of the Peasants' Revolt, Wat Tyler. The story is set in 1381, the same year as Tyler's uprising, which was initiated by commoners protesting economic hardship and high taxes.
