Filmmaker Mary Bronstein, who made a significant splash last year with her directorial debut, "If I Had Legs I'd Kick You," garnered widespread critical acclaim. The film earned lead actress Rose Byrne top honors, including the Silver Bear for Best Leading Performance at the Berlin Film Festival and a Golden Globe for Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy, alongside a nomination for Best Actress at the 98th Academy Awards. Now, the successful collaborators are poised to reunite.

Warner Bros. Pictures and their newly launched independent production company, Clockwork, announced today that Bronstein's second feature, "Nasty," will begin production this fall for a release next year. Rose Byrne and Jenna Ortega are set to star. The film will follow a gifted athlete's intense struggle to secure a spot on the Olympic gymnastics team, but first, she must overcome her greatest rival: her coach.

"Nasty" is based on a screenplay by emerging writer Isabella Jarosz, whose work was featured on the 2024 Black List, marking her first script sale. Ortega will also serve as a producer on the film, with Margot Robbie co-producing through her co-founded production company, LuckyChap.
