With a production budget of just around $10 million, "The Backrooms" has undoubtedly become one of the year's most phenomenal horror films. Not only has it grossed a staggering $370 million worldwide, but it has also ignited a Hollywood trend of adapting "internet horror" creations. Major studios are now scrambling to acquire properties like "Siren Head," "The Mandela Catalogue," "Cartoon Cat," and the SCP Foundation for film adaptations. As the studio behind "The Backrooms," A24 is naturally keen to retain the talent that brought the viral sensation to the big screen.

According to an exclusive report from Puck News, A24 is currently in negotiations with 21-year-old "The Backrooms" director Kane Parsons for a three-year first-look deal. If the deal is finalized, Parsons stands to receive a substantial sum of up to $65 million. Furthermore, he would be eligible for an additional bonus if he directs two films within the three-year agreement. While Parsons has not yet officially announced his next project, he has previously confirmed having preliminary ideas for a "Backrooms" sequel.
However, A24 isn't the only studio vying for Parsons' talent; nearly all of Hollywood is eager to sign the breakout director. Puck News reports that Warner Bros. Pictures, Universal Pictures, and Sony Pictures have been actively attempting to disrupt A24's negotiations. They have even sent representatives to visit Parsons at the home he shares with his mother, aggressively trying to persuade him to sign with them instead.
