Last month, acclaimed entertainment journalist Jeff Sneider reported on his paid blog, The InSneider, that Zendaya was quietly in talks with Universal Pictures to star in a new reboot of the "Bourne" franchise, potentially taking over from her "The Odyssey" co-star, Matt Damon. However, Damon recently told "The Rich Eisen Show" that his version of the sixth installment is still in development and has not been canceled.

Damon stated on the show, "I'm talking to a brilliant director named Edward Berger, who directed 'All Quiet on the Western Front' in 2022. He's a wonderful director, and we're talking about it. We're just trying to figure out. We're trying to nail the story down because I'd really love to do it again. If we're going to do it, we want it to be like the first three. And it's tough because it's not built like a James Bond, where every movie is its own mission and people can even change the character, you know, the person playing Bond. It's a linear story, so it makes it more challenging to do a sequel where you're giving people what they want but also enough new stuff. It's a tricky one." He added, "I hope we can crack the story; I feel like we have a general direction."
Edward Berger had actually joined the development of the sixth installment three years ago, and clearly, that plan hasn't been scrapped, nor has he exited the project. As for Zendaya's potential reboot, it's likely that Universal Pictures is pursuing both projects simultaneously. This strategy could allow them to accelerate whichever project progresses faster, or provide a backup option if one doesn't materialize.
