Deadline exclusively reported today that Disney is actively developing a live-action adaptation of "The Princess and the Frog." Oscar-nominated actor Colman Domingo, known for his roles in "Rustin," "The Color Purple," and the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic "Michael," is reportedly in negotiations to write the screenplay.
This project marks Disney's fourth live-action remake of an animated feature released after 2000, following "Moana," "Lilo & Stitch," and "Tangled."

Tony Award-nominated director Robert O'Hara, recognized for his work on the stage play "Slave Play," is also expected to co-write the script with Domingo; however, a director for the film has not yet been announced. Sources indicate the movie will primarily center on Princess Tiana, with Prince Naveen, in his frog form, potentially not appearing at all. Domingo and O'Hara's concept is reportedly not a traditional live-action remake aiming for high fidelity to the animated version, but rather a standalone story for Tiana, akin to a spin-off film tailored specifically for her.
