Danish toy brand LEGO has officially unveiled its latest addition to the Super Mario series: the "72051 Donkey Kong Arcade." This new set is scheduled for release on August 1, 2026, priced at $199.99, and features 1,367 pieces.
"Donkey Kong" is a classic arcade game launched by Nintendo in 1981, designed by Shigeru Miyamoto, and stands as one of the most influential titles in video game history. Players control "Jumpman"—who later evolved into the iconic Mario—navigating rolling barrels and climbing ladders to reach the top and rescue Pauline, who has been kidnapped by Donkey Kong.

This groundbreaking game not only laid the foundation for the platformer genre but also marked the very first appearance of the Mario character, making its significance immeasurable. With 2026 marking the 45th anniversary of the "Donkey Kong" arcade game's release, this brick-built arcade cabinet couldn't be more perfectly timed.

Notably, this LEGO set isn't a precise recreation of the full-size 1981 arcade cabinet. Instead, it draws inspiration from the original machine's design elements to create a tabletop arcade cabinet. The model features a blue cabinet with a red front as its primary color scheme, topped with a large Donkey Kong logo. The front clearly depicts the classic scene with pink platforms, turquoise ladders, and rolling barrels, rendered with pixel-style printed graphics for Donkey Kong, Jumpman, and Pauline. Even the original game's iconic "HELP!" message is faithfully reproduced.
Following the "10323 PAC-MAN Arcade," this marks LEGO's second large display arcade set. It truly shines with its rich interactive features, making it one of the most anticipated display pieces for retro gaming fans and brick collectors this August.
