Good Smile Company, the Japanese brand behind the popular Nendoroid series, is expanding its "Nendoroid Basic" line with a new release from "Natsume's Book of Friends." Designed for affordability and quicker production by simplifying face plates and some accessories, the latest addition is "Natsume Takashi & Nyanko-sensei: Shikigami Ver." It's priced at 4,400 JPY and is slated for a January 2027 release!
"Natsume's Book of Friends" is a manga series created by Yuki Midorikawa, which was adapted into a TV anime by Brain's Base in 2008. The story follows Takashi Natsume, a boy who can see yokai. He inherits the "Book of Friends" from his grandmother Reiko, which contains the names of yokai she defeated. Alongside his protector, Nyanko-sensei, Natsume decides to return these names, resolve misunderstandings, and come to terms with the loneliness and warmth of the yokai world.
This Nendoroid Basic "Natsume Takashi & Nyanko-sensei: Shikigami Ver." stands approximately 10 cm tall. It captures Natsume and Nyanko-sensei's appearance as the new shikigami from the fifth season of the anime. The adorable Nendoroid proportions faithfully recreate the details of their kimono outfits, including the horns on their heads and the "Seal" (封) character written on the cloth strips across their faces. Nyanko-sensei is also depicted with the cloth strip that nullifies barriers, presented in a charming sitting pose. Displaying them together makes for an incredibly cute scene!
Furthermore, pre-orders placed directly through the Good Smile Company website will include a special base featuring the "Seal" (封) character!
