Japanese model manufacturers Good Smile Company and Max Factory have announced the latest addition to their co-developed 'PLAMATEA' character model kit series: "Hatsune Miku" from "Character Vocal Series 01: Hatsune Miku," slated for release in January 2027.
The new 'PLAMATEA' model kit series, a joint venture between GOOD SMILE COMPANY and Max Factory, focuses on articulated plastic models of various humanoid characters from anime, games, virtual singers, and VTubers. Leveraging both companies' extensive experience in character figure production, PLAMATEA kits boast high-resolution sculpting and inherit the advanced articulation designs honed in the 'figma' action figure series. Thanks to precise part separation and multi-color molded components, assembling these characters is straightforward. Furthermore, some parts come pre-printed with patterns or pre-painted, allowing builders to achieve a look very close to the official product images with just a snap-build.
Unlike the series' first release, the Hatsune Miku Happy 16th Birthday Ver., this new item features entirely new sculpts to recreate Hatsune Miku's original, classic design. Utilizing multiple molded colors, pre-painted parts, and some color-correcting stickers, the kit assembles into a fully articulated figure approximately 15 cm tall. A simple snap-build allows for a faithful reproduction of her vibrant colors across various sections, and it also includes waterslide decals to replicate the iconic "01" number on her arm.
The figure boasts flexible articulation throughout its body, allowing for dynamic poses like singing, dancing, and jumping, especially when combined with the various interchangeable hand parts, a poseable tie, and a microphone. Accessories also include a pre-painted "smiling face," along with additional face plates for which builders can apply waterslide decals to create a "smiling face," an "open-mouth face," and a "chibi face."
