BANDAI SPIRITS' BANDAI HOBBY division, renowned for its Gunpla model kits, has officially announced the latest addition to its "MGSD (MASTER GRADE SD)" series. Combining the intricate engineering of the MG line with the charming SD Gundam scale, the new "Wing Gundam Zero EW [Structural Color Coating/Black]" from "Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz" is set for release in November 2026. This exclusive item will only be available through BANDAI's official online store, Premium Bandai.
Designed by mechanical designer Hajime Katoki, the XXXG-00W0 Wing Gundam Zero EW is the successor mobile suit piloted by protagonist Heero Yuy in the OVA "Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz." It holds a status equivalent to the Wing Gundam Zero from the TV anime series. The EW version features significant design and color scheme changes compared to its TV counterpart, most notably its distinctive, organic-looking white feathered wings on its back. These wings not only dramatically enhance mobility but can also envelop the suit to form its "Neo-Bird Mode" (Atmospheric Entry Mode). Its primary weapon remains the iconic "Twin Buster Rifle," capable of destroying an entire space colony with a single maximum-output shot.
This new release builds upon the "MGSD Wing Gundam Zero EW" kit, which debuted in late 2024. The kit masterfully integrates the intricate part separation, color accuracy, and articulation of the MG grade into a compact 12 cm tall SD Gundam body. Beyond its highly detailed sculpt, it incorporates new materials and advanced articulation mechanisms, allowing builders to construct the mobile suit layer by layer from its internal movable frame. Realistic metallic gloss injection parts replicate a metal-like texture, while multi-layered structures for areas like the sensors and twin eye cameras recreate precise internal details beneath clear outer covers. Even the intricate ZERO System within the cockpit is faithfully reproduced.
The entire suit's armor features a matte black-gray base, enhanced by the industry's first application of "structural color coating" technology. Specifically, three "E-runner" parts, originally molded with realistic metallic gloss injection, have been replaced with this structural color coating. This gives the parts a structural color similar to surfaces found on bubbles, CDs, or insect wings, creating an irregular iridescent rainbow effect that shifts with viewing angles. When various armor sections of the mobile suit—such as the head, shoulder armor, and wings—are deployed, the hidden structural color-coated parts reveal their dazzling, irregular iridescent hues.
