BANDAI Candy has officially announced the discontinuation of its long-running "Cutie Figure" series for the "Pretty Cure" franchise, while simultaneously revealing a new, upgraded line: the "Precure Star Gallery" series. The first products in this exciting new collection are from the currently airing anime, "Star Detective Precure!", and will be released in two sets. Both sets will be available in a standard retail version and a more premium Premium Bandai exclusive version, with the retail editions slated for release in January 2027.
The genesis of the "Precure Star Gallery" series can be traced back to previous reports, but the core focus now is on the line's distinct features, setting it apart from the "Cutie Figure" series. To address rising production costs, the development team opted for a strategy of "higher prices, significantly upgraded specifications." To prevent the price from becoming prohibitive, they introduced two tiers: a "standard retail version" with simplified paint applications and a more luxurious "Premium Bandai version" featuring enhanced detailing. The figures' height has also been increased slightly to 11cm, up from the Cutie Figure's 10cm, allowing for more intricate part separation and sculpting. The most significant change, however, is the shift in target demographic from "ages 3 and up" to "ages 15 and up," enabling the inclusion of even finer model details.
The inaugural wave of "Precure Star Gallery" figures draws from the popular and ongoing "Star Detective Precure!" series. This initial launch is divided into two sets. Set 1 features Cure Answer, Cure Mystique, and Cure Arcana Shadow. Set 2 includes Cure Arcana and Cure Eclair. The retail versions differ from their Premium Bandai counterparts in several ways, including unique facial expressions and hand poses. To reduce costs, the retail versions omit subtle paint details such as clothing buttons and sock patterns. Additionally, they come with clear transparent bases and solid hair colors, lacking the transparent gradient effects found in the Premium Bandai editions. Despite these differences, the retail versions still boast superior detail and a greater number of sculpted parts compared to the previous Cutie Figure line.
