Three months ago, Amazon, MGM, and Miramax announced they would co-produce an action film titled "Supermax". The project tapped "Halloween" trilogy director David Gordon Green to helm, with Will Smith and AnnaSophia Robb (pictured below) set to star. Today, a surprising new cast member has been confirmed to join the production.

This morning, Deadline exclusively reported that Jaafar Jackson, who earlier this April starred as his uncle in the upcoming biopic "Michael," has also joined the cast. The news comes as a surprise to many, as it was widely assumed that Jackson's portrayal of his uncle in "Michael" would be a one-time acting venture, with no plans for him to continue in the profession. However, it's now clear that Jackson intends to pursue an acting career.

The screenplay for "Supermax" was penned by David Weil, creator of the Amazon series "Hunters," and "Hunters" co-writer David J. Rosen. The story follows two FBI agents who team up to investigate a murder within the walls of the world's most secure prison. Smith will portray one of the agents, while Robb will play his female partner. Production is slated to officially begin this month.
