Amazon MGM Studios' live-action adaptation of "God of War" faced an unexpected setback last month when lead actor Ryan Hurst, cast as Kratos, suffered a bicep tear on set. After Hurst was hospitalized, doctors determined he would require six months to a year for full recovery. With production timelines to meet, the series' crew made the difficult decision to recast the role and reshoot the four episodes Hurst had already filmed.

Today, reports indicate Amazon has found Hurst's replacement in the more widely recognized Dave Bautista. While negotiations are reportedly ongoing, industry insiders suggest that when a name is floated by authoritative outlets, it's typically the final choice. Bautista has also been a fan-favorite to play Kratos for years, making his potential casting a less surprising alternative for devotees of the original game series. The "God of War" production team is currently preparing to resume work, with principal photography expected to restart in Vancouver in October.
