Four years after the Christmas action-comedy "Violent Night" became a sleeper hit, grossing $76.6 million worldwide on a modest $20 million budget, the original creative team is back with a sequel. The first trailer and teaser poster (below) for the follow-up dropped tonight.
"Violent Night 2" is once again directed by Tommy Wirkola ("Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters"), with Pat Casey and Josh Miller (the "Sonic the Hedgehog" franchise) returning to write the script. The cast features David Harbour reprising his role as Santa Claus, joined by franchise newcomers Jared Harris, Joe Pantoliano, Daniela Melchior, and Kristen Bell as Mrs. Claus.

Official synopsis: After landing on the naughty list for forgetting the true meaning of Christmas, Santa is demoted to a mortal shopping mall community where the people desperately need his help. Stripped of his magic, he must find a new way to fight the mobsters threatening the mall. With time running out, Santa must rediscover his belief in goodness and call for last-minute reinforcements: the one person all bad guys fear—Mrs. Claus. The film is scheduled to hit North American theaters on December 4.
