Japanese model manufacturer Kotobukiya, in collaboration with illustrator En Morikura, has announced a new spin-off character for their everyday-life bishojo plastic model kit series, "Sousai Shojo Teien." The new product, "Side Tail-chan," is slated for release in January 2027.
The "Sousai Shojo Teien Spin-off" series is a new project that creates entirely new characters by utilizing and mixing parts from the main series' existing models. The latest character, "Side Tail-chan," is a gyaru-style girl with a vibe similar to Seira Ichijo. As such, her body sculpt reuses Seira's summer uniform parts, but with a new deep crimson and dark gray molded color scheme. Her skin tone uses the lighter "Color C" molding, and her face parts are recolored versions of those originally from Ritsuka Saeki.
Standing approximately 16 cm tall at 1/10 scale, the kit meticulously recreates the image of a lively and cute high school girl through precision parts assembly. The body features gyaru-style fashion elements like a tied-up top and loose socks, and its flexible articulation allows for a wide range of adorable poses. Furthermore, an abundant selection of interchangeable parts, including an "upper body for leaning forward poses," a "lower body for sitting poses," "normal/flowing/sitting skirt parts," "barefoot parts," and "multiple PVC hand parts," enables even more dynamic and natural expressions.
For her head, the kit includes two hair parts: a light and airy "side tail" and "twin tails." It also comes with four pre-painted face parts: a "smiling face," "winking face," "angry face," and a "mischievous face." Additionally, unpainted face parts and water-slide decals with eye patterns are included for custom expressions.
