Rockstar Games has announced an "extended preview" for "Grand Theft Auto VI" will debut on Netflix on August 27, 2026. The special will premiere on Netflix at 3 PM ET on Thursday, August 27, and will also be available on Rockstar Games' official YouTube channel and the "Grand Theft Auto VI" website at 9 PM ET on the same day.
Official details regarding the program's length and specific content remain under wraps. Netflix has simply described the special as an opportunity to "witness the next evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series."
Rockstar has only released two trailers to date, one in December 2023 and another in May 2025, neither of which has shown actual gameplay footage. This latest announcement quickly ignited widespread discussion among players.
Some fans sarcastically remarked that they might only get a "25-second video" after all this anticipation. Others bluntly called Rockstar's move "insane," noting that after nearly 500 days of waiting, the studio is now delivering a "trailer for a trailer." Another player quipped that "GTA 6" is so massive it requires its own Netflix special, while some offered condolences to fans who didn't live to see this moment.
"Grand Theft Auto VI" pre-orders opened in June 2026, with the Standard Edition priced at $80 and the Ultimate Edition at $100. Rockstar has also confirmed that the physical boxed version, set for an November release, will not include a game disc but rather a download code inside the box. Players who purchase the Standard Edition will retain the option to upgrade to the Ultimate Edition at any time for an additional fee.
