GOOD SMILE COMPANY's MODEROID model kit series is revisiting the classic robot anime "Giant Gorg" with a new release: the alien Manon's purple giant, "Manon Guardian," is officially being commercialized! Standing approximately 17 cm tall, the model kit is priced at 7,900 JPY and is slated for an April 2027 release.
"Giant Gorg" is a sci-fi adventure robot anime produced by Japan's SUNRISE, with Yoshikazu Yasuhiko serving as the original creator, director, and character designer. It first aired in 1984. The story follows a young boy named Yuu Tagami as he journeys to the uncharted Austral Island to uncover mysteries left by his father, where he encounters the blue giant, Gorg.
The "MODEROID Manon Guardian" faithfully recreates the mecha's chilling purple armor, black joints, and white lines. Its head features narrower eye slits compared to Gorg, conveying the inorganic, oppressive feel of an alien machine. The kit utilizes multi-colored runners, pre-painted parts, and decals for color separation, ensuring that even without additional painting, the assembled model closely matches its anime appearance.
The main body features articulated joints throughout and comes with multiple interchangeable hand parts. For the waist, builders can choose between a rigid plastic part for complete sculpting or a flexible material part to enhance posing range. Its signature armament includes two laser cannons, with energy tubes connecting to the main body made from soft material to minimize posing restrictions. When not in use, both laser cannons can be mounted on the back, replicating their stored configuration.
Both the left and right chest hatches of the Manon Guardian can open, allowing the included pilot mini-figure to be placed inside. The accessories also include five unpainted mini-figures in the same scale: Manon, Tomeniku, Sara, Aroi, and a generic pilot, enabling collectors to recreate in-scale character proportions and piloting scenes from the series. Displaying it alongside the separately sold "MODEROID Gorg" will allow fans to recreate the fated showdown between the blue and purple giants!
