Following the continued box office success of "Jurassic World: Rebirth," Universal Pictures has been ramping up production for the next installment in the franchise. However, the studio has encountered a minor setback, as Gareth Edwards (pictured below), who directed "Rebirth," is no longer involved in the production of the upcoming sequel. Sources indicate that Edwards and Universal parted ways due to creative differences, with Edwards reportedly shifting his focus to original projects where he can exercise greater creative control.

While Edwards will not return, the three lead stars from "Jurassic World: Rebirth"—Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali—are still expected to reprise their roles in the sequel. David Koepp, who penned the script for "Rebirth" and previously wrote "Jurassic Park" and "The Lost World: Jurassic Park," is also confirmed to return as screenwriter. Current rumors suggest the next installment is tentatively slated for a June 2028 release.
