To commemorate the upcoming "TAMASHII NATION 2026" brand exhibition, scheduled for November 13-15, 2026, Bandai Spirits' TAMASHII NATIONS collector's division has announced the latest addition to its S.H.Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou series: "Kamen Rider 1 / Takeshi Hongo (Kamen Rider THE FIRST)," slated for release in November 2026.
Between 2005 and 2007, Toei sought to bring the popular original "Kamen Rider" story, which debuted nearly 35 years prior, to a new generation. They released two films, "Kamen Rider THE FIRST" and "Kamen Rider THE NEXT." This series wasn't a simple remake of the original TV show; instead, it was a cinematic adaptation based on Shotaro Ishinomori's manga, depicting Takeshi Hongo and Hayato Ichimonji's struggle against the Shocker organization, and their later encounter with Shiro Kazami (Kamen Rider V3), all rendered in a mysterious and eerie style true to the manga's roots.
The S.H.Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Kamen Rider 1 / Takeshi Hongo (Kamen Rider THE FIRST) is an updated version based on the previously released "Kamen Rider THE NEXT" figure. It boasts a physique and sculpt that more closely resemble the actual suit from the film, meticulously detailing the wrinkles across the special reinforced suit. Transparent parts are used for the compound eyes, while real fabric is employed for the red scarf. The overall color scheme has been re-tuned to match "THE FIRST" film's palette, and the helmet's battle damage printing has been removed.
The figure's articulation is designed with motorcycle riding in mind. Beyond utilizing modern joint parts for an excellent range of motion, the abdomen and belt area are crafted from soft PVC, allowing for significant waist bending and a more natural riding posture. Accessories include multiple interchangeable hand parts, spare antenna parts, a helmet part for holding, and a newly sculpted "Takeshi Hongo head part" and "interchangeable expression parts" that differ from "THE NEXT" version. These new head sculpts leverage 3D scanning and skeletal modeling techniques to perfectly recreate the face and facial contours of actor Masaya Kikawada from his appearance in the film.
