BANDAI HOBBY, the model kit brand under Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS company, has announced the latest addition to its "ENTRY GRADE" series, designed for younger builders and beginners. Coming from "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack," the new product is the "ENTRY GRADE 1/144 Nu Gundam [Ukiyo-e Package Ver.]," set to release exclusively at GUNDAM SIDE-F on August 29, 2026.
In recent years, Ukiyo-e themes have garnered renewed public attention, partly due to the NHK Taiga drama "Daitan Kyōto ~Tsutaju Hanayaka Yume Monogatari~." Capitalizing on this trend, Bandai has released ENTRY GRADE Gundam models that incorporate elements from Katsushika Hokusai's renowned "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji." Following the release of the "RX-78-2 Gundam" and "Wing Gundam," it's now the turn of the perennially popular "Nu Gundam"!
The "ENTRY GRADE 1/144 Nu Gundam [Ukiyo-e Package Ver.]" largely shares the same structure as the original "ENTRY GRADE 1/144 Nu Gundam," with some changes to the runner color scheme. Like the standard release, it includes a beam rifle and shield. The parts feature a convenient snap-fit design that allows for assembly without any tools. Combined with numerous interlocking parts, this significantly lowers the assembly difficulty, making it easy for even first-time builders to enjoy. The main highlight, of course, is the inclusion of Ukiyo-e themed stickers for the shield, shoulders, and skirt armor, along with the Ukiyo-e style packaging. Beyond Mount Fuji and the iconic Nu Gundam, the cover design surprisingly even features the Axis base rendered in an Ukiyo-e art style! It’s a perfect fusion of space sci-fi and traditional Japanese Ukiyo-e!
