BANDAI SPIRITS' Tamashii Nations, the collectibles division in Japan, has announced the release of the "LUFFY's ONE PIECE Shinkansen -Setouchi Blue-" finished figure. This new collectible commemorates the collaboration project between "One Piece" and JR West's Sanyo Shinkansen. The figure is crafted at an approximate 1/20 scale, stands about 8.6 cm tall, and will retail for 1,980 JPY. It is slated for release in Japan in October 2026.
The "One Piece x Sanyo Shinkansen" project kicked off in 2025, rolling out three uniquely designed themed trains. The first of these, the "Setouchi Blue" train, began service on April 12, 2025. Conceived with the idea of "Returning to the Grand Line," this initiative transforms the Seto Inland Sea into an adventurous stage. Adorned with Luffy and a host of other "One Piece" characters, the train operates along the Sanyo Shinkansen line, connecting Shin-Osaka and Hakata.
This latest figure hails from the "LUFFY's" brand, a line dedicated to capturing fans' shared adventure memories with "One Piece." Its design takes inspiration from Luffy's iconic silhouette within the "One Piece" series logo, scaled to approximately 1/20 based on Luffy's canonical height. From his signature straw hat and expressive face down to his feet, the figure meticulously incorporates the distinctive blue and white livery and patterns of the Setouchi Blue train. The brim of his hat even extends forward, cleverly mimicking the sleek nose of a Shinkansen bullet train, condensing Luffy's iconic cheerful smile and the train's imagery into a charming miniature souvenir.
The figure will first be available at select station stores and commercial facilities within the JR West region, as well as designated online stores like DISCOVER WEST mall and Train Box. Pre-orders are then scheduled to open on PREMIUM BANDAI starting October 23, 2026. For fans who have ridden the "One Piece" Shinkansen or those who love collecting unique Luffy figures, this "Grand Line" train, small enough to hold in your hand, is definitely one to watch!
