McDonald's USA recently announced an exciting new "Godzilla x Hello Kitty and Friends" Happy Meal collaboration, themed "Cute Meets Kaiju." This epic crossover combines beloved Sanrio characters with iconic monsters from Toho's Godzilla series. The official teaser trailer showed a Happy Meal box floating on the ocean, followed by a giant Hello Kitty, sporting a Godzilla-style head, emerging from the sea. This officially declared the limited-time collaboration would launch on August 18, 2026, at participating McDonald's locations across the U.S.
Beyond Hello Kitty's transformation into Godzilla, leaked promotional images circulating online reveal that this Happy Meal lineup will feature a total of 8 collaborative toys. Each toy directly merges a Sanrio character with a different Toho kaiju, including Hello Kitty x Godzilla, Kuromi x Mechagodzilla, Chococat x SpaceGodzilla, Badtz-Maru x Rodan, My Melody x Mothra, Keroppi x King Ghidorah, Cinnamoroll x Destoroyah, and Pompompurin x Gigan. Every figure retains the original Sanrio character's recognizable silhouette while incorporating the most distinctive features of its kaiju counterpart.
