Kadokawa's "KADOKAWA PLASTIC MODEL SERIES" (KADOPLA) has officially announced the latest entry from the "Full Metal Panic!" novel series: the "1/48 ARX-7 Arbalest Model Kit," slated for release in February 2027. This kit will be available in both a standard edition and a special set with additional accessories.
Designed by mechanical designer Kanetake Ebikawa, the ARX-7 Arbalest is the third-generation Arm Slave (AS) piloted by protagonist Sousuke Sagara. It belongs to Mithril, a secretive mercenary organization dedicated to combating terrorism within the "Full Metal Panic!" universe. Modified from an M9 Gernsback, the Arbalest is equipped with "AL," a high-performance AI that grows with its pilot, and the "Lambda Driver," which converts the pilot's will into a powerful repulsive force. When activated, the Lambda Driver can generate a force field to defend against attacks, destroy enemy units, and even enable the AS to perform movements that defy the laws of physics.

Fully supervised by designer Kanetake Ebikawa, the kit features multi-colored molded parts and some pre-painted components. Even the 42 lenses positioned across the body are pre-painted, allowing for a highly accurate representation of the design and colors straight out of the box. Standing approximately 17.7 cm tall, the model boasts intricate mechanical details for a realistic feel. Its highly flexible articulation also enables dynamic combat poses, from shooting to slashing, when paired with its weapon accessories.
The kit's biggest highlight is its ability to recreate various mechanisms and tactical forms from the original series. The chest block slides forward, replicating its iconic opening mechanism. Furthermore, by deploying various armor sections and swapping certain parts, collectors can display the Electronic Concealment System (ECS) and Lambda Driver activated states. Accessories include the "Boxer" 57mm Shotgun, a Monomolecular Cutter, and the Anti-Tank Dagger and Grenades stored in the chest weapon bay. An interchangeable head part also allows for displaying the Anti-Tank Dagger mounted on the head.
The more luxurious special set features exclusive packaging adorned with original artwork by illustrator Naoyuki Morishita. It also includes additional weapon accessories: a Wire Gun Firing Effect Part, a Silver Plated Monomolecular Cutter Blade, Black Plated Heat Sink Parts for Lambda Driver activation, and a special display stand designed by Kanetake Ebikawa. These additions enhance the model's weighty metallic feel and overall display presence.
