Japanese model kit manufacturer Kotobukiya has announced the latest addition to its original model kit series, "Megalo maria." The new product, "Eis Eisen," is slated for release in October 2026.

The "Megalo maria" series marks Kotobukiya's first venture where the vast majority of parts are manufactured domestically in Japan. Unlike previous bishoujo or mecha musume model kits, this line introduces the innovative "Marionette Style" base body, designed with the appearance of a humanoid puppet and engineered for exceptional "articulation" and "expressiveness." Its unique, complex worldview is presented as a "play-within-a-play," connecting with other Kotobukiya model kit series, such as the "Sousai Shojo Teien" line, through shared narratives and interchangeable parts, opening up infinite possibilities for customization and play.

"Eis Eisen" is the series' inaugural character to feature a low-height body design. Its overall aesthetic seamlessly blends the rich Japanese imagery of Miko and Onmyoji with sharp, angular armor. Once assembled, the main body stands approximately 14 cm tall to the top of its head and boasts an impressive 77 points of articulation. A unique hip joint design allows the legs to spread a full 180 degrees, while the articulated hakama armor, equipped with a folding mechanism, can perfectly recreate the traditional seiza sitting pose. To prevent posing interference, the "furisode" (kimono sleeves) parts feature rotation axes below the elbows, allowing for natural adjustments to complement any pose.

The model offers two interchangeable forms: "Naked Form," where parts of the body are composed of skin-tone components, and "Masquerade Form," which features parts of the body covered by a mask and armor. In "Naked Form," the skin-tone parts are utilized, along with the same face parts as the "Kagaribi Maria [Battle Attire]" kit. The face includes movable eyeballs, and a dedicated tool is provided to adjust their gaze. The eyeball parts are produced using UV printing technology, which not only renders the delicate color separation of the iris but also applies a transparent coating to the surface, giving the eyes a glass-like luster.

The "Masquerade Form" utilizes gray body parts and an inorganic, puppet-like face. The ice-themed hair parts are made with translucent molding, creating captivating color variations depending on the angle and lighting. Accessories include an "Ōnusa" (purification wand) used in Shinto rituals and two "Ofuda" (talismans), which can be combined with the main body's highly flexible articulation to create dynamic poses.
