The new "Miami Vice '85" will be directed by Joseph Kosinski, who helmed "Top Gun: Maverick" and the upcoming "F1" film. The screenplay is being penned by Eric Warren Singer, also from "Maverick," and Dan Gilroy, director of "Nightcrawler." Given his prior collaborations with Kosinski on "Maverick" and "Oblivion," Tom Cruise is highly rumored to join the cast.
The film's plot will be set in the mid-1980s, directly adapting the original 1980s television series pilot. Production is slated to begin this year, with the movie expected to be shot with IMAX cameras and released on May 19, 2028.
