Netflix has recently begun to further expand its theatrical business, extending the cinema runs for some of its upcoming films. For instance, the first installment of the new "The Chronicles of Narnia" series, "The Magician's Nephew," and the "Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood" sequel/spinoff film "The Adventures of Cliff Booth" will be allowed theatrical windows of over a month, or at least a two-week exclusive run.

The latest project to follow suit is the new animated film "Charlie vs. the Chocolate Factory." Netflix announced today that the movie will receive an exclusive global theatrical release of over 45 days, beginning November 5, 2027, before landing on the streaming platform on December 22, 2027. Sony Pictures will handle the theatrical distribution.

Netflix also unveiled more of the voice cast, including Nicola Coughlan, Charithra Chandran, Samson Kayo, Christopher Chung, Kate Winslet, and Helena Bonham Carter, who coincidentally starred in the live-action "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" just over two decades ago.

They join the previously confirmed cast, which features Kit Connor, recently tapped by Marvel to play the new Cyclops in the "X-Men" reboot, and "Thor: Ragnarok" and "Thor: Love and Thunder" director Taika Waititi. Connor will voice Charlie, while Waititi is set to voice the iconic Willy Wonka.
