According to Variety, Amazon and its subsidiary MGM have acquired the film rights to Squishmallow and are actively developing a movie adaptation. The project's format—whether live-action or animated—remains undecided, and no writer or director has been attached yet. However, Beau Flynn, known for producing Dwayne Johnson's "Black Adam" and the upcoming live-action "Moana," is confirmed to serve as a producer. Flynn is also producing Warner Bros.' currently developing "Hello Kitty" film, another toy-to-screen adaptation.
