A wave of classic 90s anime and model kit nostalgia is officially hitting Taiwan! TFND, Taiwan's largest Transformers fan community, recently announced that acclaimed Japanese manga artist Imaki Shoji, known for his work on the "Model Kit Customization Battle" and "Beast Wars" manga series, will make his first-ever visit to Taiwan on Saturday, September 5th. He is scheduled to host a special fan meet and autograph session at the Syntrend Creative Park in Taipei.
The organizers have simultaneously released detailed event information and autograph qualification requirements, inviting all fans of Gundam model kit customization and Transformers across Taiwan to join this exciting event.
For model kit and anime enthusiasts of the 90s, Imaki Shoji is an unforgettable and iconic name. His representative work, "Model Kit Customization Battle" (serialized in Kodansha's Comic BomBom starting in 1997, and distributed in Taiwan by Chingwin Publishing in Strong Bat SD), centered on virtual battles using next-generation Gundam plastic models. It combined classic mobile suits like SD Gundam and the Heisei Trilogy Gundam (G, Wing, and X) with innovative "customization" gameplay, and is widely regarded as one of the precursors to the modern "Gundam Build Fighters" series. Furthermore, his manga adaptation of "Beast Wars" captivated countless young fans across Taiwan with its rich facial expressions and unique worldview. In an era before widespread internet access, it was also one of the few opportunities for Transformers fans to engage with Japanese "Beast Wars" content.
This event is a major highlight of the "TFND 2026 Gathering." In addition to the highly anticipated fan meet and autograph session in the afternoon, a lively fan community gathering will kick off earlier in the morning. TFND emphasizes that whether you were a passionate "Plamo" (plastic model) builder in your youth or a devoted fan of "Beast Wars" and the epic battles between beasts and machines, you absolutely cannot miss this precious opportunity to meet the master in person. Registration is now officially open, with limited spots available on a first-come, first-served basis.
