THE GUNDAM BASE, Bandai’s official flagship destination for GUNPLA, has announced its latest exclusive model kit from the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED television anime: the RG 1/144 THE GUNDAM BASE Limited ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam Ver.GCP [Clear Color]. The kit is scheduled to go on sale at participating locations beginning August 22, 2026.
The ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam is a next-generation mobile suit developed by ZAFT using technology derived from the Earth Alliance’s captured GAT-X-series G weapons, including their beam weaponry and Phase Shift armor. Its N-Jammer Canceller enables the operation of a nuclear engine, providing enough energy for extended deployment and the simultaneous use of high-output weapons such as its Xiphias rail cannons and Balaena plasma beam cannons. The unit also possesses the exceptional performance required to conduct high-mobility aerial combat and atmospheric re-entry on its own.
This release uses the kit originally introduced in 2022 to commemorate the first anniversary of THE GUNDAM BASE SHANGHAI. Inspired by the life-size Freedom Gundam statue in Shanghai, the RG 1/144 Freedom Gundam Ver.GCP extensively reworked the original RG Freedom Gundam released in 2011. Approximately 90 percent of its exterior armor consists of newly tooled parts designed to reproduce the statue’s distinctive appearance, while the head was recreated with an entirely new sculpt. Its internal frame retains the pre-molded ADVANCED MS JOINT system while incorporating newly designed joint components in key areas, improving both structural strength and articulation while addressing issues such as the shoulder joints detaching too easily.
The new [Clear Color] edition retains this extensively updated construction while replacing the white, gray, red, yellow, and blue molded parts with highly transparent clear plastic. The result is a brilliant, crystal-like finish that also lends itself particularly well to custom lighting and glow-in-the-dark paint effects. Newly designed landing-gear pieces and open hands allow the model to recreate the same pose as the life-size Shanghai statue. The included beam rifle, beam sabers, and shield can also be used to display the Freedom Gundam in a variety of combat poses.
