Bandai Candy, the confectionery toy division of Japan's Bandai Co., Ltd., has announced the latest addition to its "FW GUNDAM CONVERGE" series from the "Mobile Suit Gundam" franchise. The new product, the "FW GUNDAM CONVERGE CORE Gundam DX 30th Anniversary Set," based on "After War Gundam X," is slated for release in January 2027.
The GX-9901-DX Gundam DX is a powerful Mobile Suit secretly developed by the New United Nations Earth to symbolize a new era and consolidate its sovereignty. It inherits the design philosophy and data of the "Gundam X," which was hailed as the strongest MS during the 7th Space War, with its cockpit fully transplanted. Not only are its overall capabilities significantly enhanced, but it can also activate the "Satellite System" without the need for a Newtype pilot. Its back is equipped with two new "Satellite Cannon mk-II" units, featuring improved microwave collection efficiency. These cannons boast several times the power of their predecessors and can even fire continuously after a single microwave reception. When combined with its support fighter, the "GS-9900 G-Falcon," to form the "G-Falcon DX," it gains formidable mobility and atmospheric re-entry capabilities.
The "FW GUNDAM CONVERGE CORE Gundam DX 30th Anniversary Set" is an updated version based on the "FW GUNDAM CONVERGE #17" release from 2017. The Gundam DX main unit not only receives a complete paint scheme refresh but also features additional painted areas on the skirt armor, feet, and other sections, along with new body markings. Furthermore, it includes interchangeable parts to display the Satellite Cannon in its un-deployed, normal state.
This luxurious accessory set includes the support fighter "G-Falcon." The prototype for this item is an updated version of the "FW GUNDAM CONVERGE 17" release from 2014. Due to the aging metal molds used previously, new molds were created, allowing for revisions to certain design elements. These include new parts that enable complete combination with the "FW GUNDAM CONVERGE #17" version of Gundam DX, as well as an original energy pack structure that doubles as a display stand.
For armament, the set features newly sculpted versions of two "Hyper Beam Swords," a "Shield," and the "Buster Rifle." It also impressively recreates original weapons from the 1/100 scale model kit, such as the "Rocket Launcher," "G-Hammer," "Beam Twin Sword," and "Beam Halberd," all rendered with new parts.
