American toy manufacturer Sideshow Collectibles has teamed up with renowned toy designer and artist James Groman to release a new "Star Wars" themed product: the "Rancor" vinyl figure. Priced at $295 USD, it is slated for release between February and May 2027!

The Rancor first appeared in the 1983 film "Return of the Jedi," serving as Jabba the Hutt's bloodthirsty pet kept beneath his palace. These massive carnivorous beasts, native to the planet Dathomir, are characterized by their long, thick arms, tough skin, and menacing fangs. This new Rancor vinyl figure boasts impressive dimensions, standing approximately 30.5 cm (12 inches) tall, 43 cm (17 inches) wide, and 38.7 cm (15.25 inches) deep. James Groman has reimagined the classic Rancor, drawing inspiration from original Rancor designer Phil Tippett's work, but with a more compact, stout proportion.

Details like its thick, armor-like brown hide, elongated arms, and colossal claws perfectly blend Groman's distinctive style with the original creature's iconic design. The bumpy, spiky, and incredibly realistic texture, reminiscent of toad skin, is faithfully rendered. The chain on its left hand features a heavy metallic finish through expert paint application. Its wide-open, roaring maw expresses its displeasure at being chained, while drool dripping from its mouth adds further richness to the overall sculpt. The figure features rotatable articulation in its hands and head. An included accessory is the skull of a Gamorrean Guard, which the Rancor can clutch, perfectly showcasing its raw power!
