While Insomniac Games' "Marvel's Wolverine" has yet to officially launch, the official prequel comic, "Wolverine Prequel Infinity Comic," has already unveiled significant adjustments to Logan's backstory within the game's universe.

Though the game focuses on an earlier version of Wolverine, it doesn't aim to re-enact the "Weapon X" program or the origin of his adamantium skeleton. Instead, Logan's fragmented memories and lost past form the core mystery of the narrative.
The prequel comic reveals that years before the game's events, Logan was part of Team X, a unit personally assembled by Nathaniel Essex (Mister Sinister). Their mission was to confront Bolivar Trask and thwart his clandestine experiments.
In Insomniac's rendition, Team X's roster includes Logan, Sabretooth, Mystique, and, most surprisingly, Shiro Yoshida, also known as Sunfire. While Sabretooth and Mystique are confirmed to play pivotal roles in the game, Sunfire's presence could foreshadow future reunions, tragic turns, or even broader implications for the X-Men within this burgeoning universe.

This particular lineup diverges significantly from the main Marvel comic universe, where Team X was often depicted as a 1960s CIA/Weapon X black ops unit, featuring members like Wolverine, Sabretooth, Maverick, Silverfox, and Mastodon. The Fox film "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" similarly reimagined the team as a mutant strike force led by William Stryker.
Insomniac's decision to include Sunfire is particularly intriguing, as he was one of the new X-Men recruits in "Giant-Size X-Men #1" and has a history closely tied to Wolverine joining Professor X's team. Should a standalone "X-Men" game materialize in the future, this inclusion could very well be one of the earliest pieces of that larger puzzle.
