CCPJAPAN’s “MSS (Middle Size Series)” is diving into the gloriously outrageous world of The Asylum with a new sofubi figure inspired by 3-Headed Shark Attack. The “MSS Triple-Headed Jaws Standard Ver.” reimagines the film’s mutant mega-shark as a palm-sized retro monster toy, giving each of its three heads a different jaw position. A wet-looking glossy black body and vivid red mouths amplify the bizarre menace of the original B-movie creature. Priced at 5,280 yen, including tax, the figure is scheduled for release in December 2026.
Released by The Asylum in 2015, 3-Headed Shark Attack is a creature-disaster film centered on a mutated giant shark with three heads. It enthusiastically embraces the exaggerated, anything-goes monster spectacle for which the studio’s cult B-movies are known. Rather than pursuing realistic proportions, CCPJAPAN’s Standard Ver. takes the creature’s screen appearance as a starting point and exaggerates its heads, teeth and body outline, transforming it into a stylized monster with the nostalgic character of a vintage Japanese sofubi toy.
Each head has been sculpted with a distinct expression rather than simply repeating the same design three times. The central shark opens its enormous jaws to their widest point, while the two side heads feature half-open and closed mouths, creating a much livelier overall silhouette. The Standard Ver. uses a gray-toned vinyl base with layered black spraywork, allowing variations in color density to emphasize the uneven surface of the sculpt. A glossy finish gives the creature a suitably wet, black sheen, while the bright red mouths provide a savage visual contrast. Even at its compact size, the figure retains all the uncanny appeal of a multi-headed movie monster.
The lineup also includes the “MSS Triple-Headed Jaws Deep Sea Clear Ver.,” which uses translucent blue sofubi to evoke a monstrous shark lurking beneath the ocean’s surface. Standard and Deep Sea Clear editions based on 2-Headed Shark Attack are being released as well, allowing collectors to assemble an entire school of wonderfully strange multi-headed sharks from The Asylum’s cult B-movie catalog.
