Director Zack Snyder, primarily known for helming a string of DC superhero films and blockbusters like "Sucker Punch," shifted gears last year. He took on the challenge of directing "The Last Photograph," an independent feature that, while still action-oriented, leans into a more realistic tone. A surprise teaser trailer for the film was just released.
The screenplay for "The Last Photograph" was co-written by Snyder and Kurt Johnstad, who previously collaborated with Snyder on the "300" series and "Rebel Moon." The duo has been intermittently developing this project since as far back as 2007. Starring in the film are Stuart Martin and Fra Fee, both of whom are also part of the "Rebel Moon" cast. As of now, a release date has not been set, and no distributor has yet picked up the film.

"The Last Photograph" centers on a former DEA operative whose diplomat niece and nephew's parents are tragically murdered. To find his missing relatives, he must return to the mountains of South America, seeking the help of a washed-up, drug-addicted war photographer—the only person who witnessed the killers' faces. As he embarks on this journey, he quickly discovers he must also confront the shadows of his own past. Their perilous trek into the unknown leads them to question everything they once believed, as the line between reality and the surreal gradually blurs.
