Japanese toy company PLEX is expanding its blind-box monster sofubi line with “Godzilla Mini Sofubi Chronicle: Retro Color Collection 2.” Priced at 660 yen per box, the second retro-colored assortment is scheduled for release in November 2026.
The Mini Sofubi Chronicle series reimagines classic monsters as stylized soft-vinyl figures standing approximately 4 cm tall. Its Retro Color Collection takes inspiration from the vivid color schemes of Showa-era Bullmark sofubi, combining modern sculpting with the wonderfully nostalgic character of vintage Japanese monster toys.
Following the first collection featuring fan favorites such as Godzilla, Hedorah, and Gigan, the second wave offers 12 designs: Godzilla (1962) in green, Godzilla (1968) in brown, Mechagodzilla (1974) in green, Fake Godzilla in blue, Baragon in orange, Gorosaurus in blue, Gabara in green, Minilla in red, Mothra Larva in yellow, Varan in red, Moguera in green, and Ebirah in orange and blue.
Each figure captures its monster’s signature silhouette, expression, and surface details within the line’s compact, super-deformed proportions. Bold molding colors and contrasting paintwork complete the old-school sofubi aesthetic, making this second assortment an ideal companion display for the original Retro Color Collection.
