Hong Kong-based toy company threezero is bringing another iconic form from Evangelion: New Theatrical Edition to its die-cast robot action figure line with the ROBO-DOU Evangelion Test Type-01 Pseudo DMS Phase. The figure is currently scheduled to ship in the second quarter of 2027.
In Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance, Shinji Ikari becomes determined to rescue Rei Ayanami after she is absorbed by the Tenth Angel. Responding to Shinji’s will, Evangelion Unit-01 surpasses human limitations and awakens in its Pseudo DMS Phase. Its body radiates red energy, a halo appears above its head, and its A.T. Field reconstructs its missing left arm. Unit-01 also unleashes devastating shock waves and eye beams powerful enough to pierce the Angel’s defenses.
Although Unit-01 overwhelms the Tenth Angel and successfully retrieves Rei, it subsequently absorbs the Angel’s core and advances into its next evolutionary state, setting the Near Third Impact in motion.
The ROBO-DOU Evangelion Test Type-01 Pseudo DMS Phase stands approximately 25 cm tall. Based on threezero’s previous ROBO-DOU Unit-01 figure, this release features a completely revised paint scheme inspired by the red glow of its awakened form, along with newly designed parts for the wide, rounded eyes and the translucent left arm reconstructed through its A.T. Field.
The red armor sections are finished with UV-reactive paint, while the eyes incorporate an LED light-up feature. The jaw is articulated, and an interchangeable open-mouth head with bulging eyes is included to capture Unit-01’s more ferocious awakened appearance. The alternate open-mouth head does not feature an LED function.
A die-cast internal frame provides approximately 48 points of articulation, giving the figure a satisfying weight, strong joint stability, and plenty of flexibility for dynamic battle poses. The dedicated translucent left arm can be attached or removed, allowing collectors to display Unit-01 before or after the limb is reconstructed.
Accessories include a halo effect with support arm, an A.T. Field effect with display base, an A.T. Field attack effect with support arm, an interchangeable exposed-core chest piece, two pairs of interchangeable hands, and a ROBO-DOU action stand. Together, the optional parts recreate Unit-01’s overwhelming assault against the Tenth Angel.
A more extensively equipped Special Edition will also be available. In addition to everything included with the standard release, it comes with a display base modeled after the Tenth Angel, a removable Angel core, and a dedicated translucent left hand posed to reach toward the core. These exclusive accessories recreate the climactic moment in which Shinji pulls Rei from the Angel.
