ATS-MODELS, a brand specializing in officially licensed 1/64-scale die-cast vehicles, has unveiled a new display piece based on the popular manga Initial D. The “1/64 Initial D Manga Version Fujiwara Tofu Shop Diorama Pre-Painted Assembly Kit” is priced at 11,880 yen and is scheduled for release in January 2027.
Created by Shuichi Shigeno and serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Young Magazine from 1995 to 2013, Initial D follows high school student Takumi Fujiwara as he enters the world of mountain-pass racing. Trained unknowingly through years of early-morning tofu deliveries for his father, Bunta Fujiwara, Takumi puts his remarkable driving skills to the test behind the wheel of the family’s Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86.
The “Manga Version Fujiwara Tofu Shop” recreates Takumi’s family home and Bunta’s tofu business as a 1/64-scale pre-painted assembly kit. Once completed, the diorama measures approximately 20 cm wide, 20 cm deep, and 14 cm tall, making it suitable for display alongside similarly scaled die-cast vehicles.
Details include the instantly recognizable Fujiwara Tofu Shop sign, tiled roof, balcony, rear staircase, surrounding walls, and other architectural features seen in the manga. Since the individual components come pre-painted, collectors can achieve a detailed finished display simply by assembling the kit. A USB Type-C-powered lighting feature illuminates the building’s interior, adding atmosphere to scenes depicting Takumi’s predawn deliveries or the AE86 parked outside the shop. It also serves as a dedicated display environment for an Initial D 1/64-scale model car collection.
