Three years ago, director Zack Snyder revealed he had conceived a third "300" script, tentatively titled "Blood and Ashes." This story was intended to explore the gay romance between Alexander the Great and his closest companion, Hephaestion. However, Warner Bros. Pictures did not greenlight the script at the time, and the rights have since reverted to Snyder, allowing him to independently finance its production in the future.
Now, it appears this script may finally come to fruition, not as a feature film for the big screen, but as a streaming series for television.
Film insider John Rocha recently shared on X that Netflix and Warner Bros., two frequent collaborators with Snyder, are jointly developing a "300" prequel series. Snyder is reportedly confirmed to direct the pilot episode. While the series has not yet received a formal order, a writing team has already been assembled. Rocha did not specify if this prequel is a re-imagining of "Blood and Ashes," but it strongly suggests Snyder's serious intent to further develop the "300" IP.
