LAIKA's "Wildwood" Drops New Trailer, Becomes Longest Stop-Motion Film Ever

US stop-motion animation powerhouse Laika released the second official trailer and a new promotional poster (pictured below) last night for its new feature film, "Wildwood," which has been seven years in the making. Meanwhile, theater chain AMC announced the film's full runtime, clocking in at 140 minutes, making it the longest stop-motion animated movie in history. This runtime surpasses the previous record of 117 minutes held by "Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio."

The film is based on the "Wildwood" novel trilogy of the same name. It is directed by Travis Knight, president of Laika and director of the live-action "Transformers" spin-off "Bumblebee" and "Kubo and the Two Strings." Knight co-wrote the screenplay with Chris Butler, who also penned "Kubo and the Two Strings." The story follows a young girl who ventures into a dangerous, hidden forest to rescue her younger brother.

The film boasts an all-star voice cast including Charlie Day, Jake Johnson, Richard E. Grant, Awkwafina, Carey Mulligan, Jacob Tremblay, Angela Bassett, Jemaine Clement, Mahershala Ali, Peyton Elizabeth Lee, and Tom Waits. "Wildwood" is scheduled for release in North America and the UK on October 23.
