GOOD SMILE COMPANY, the Japanese figure manufacturer known for its popular Nendoroid series of chibi-style collectible figures, has announced a new addition to its larger-scale spin-off, the Nendoroid Large series. The latest release is "Godzilla (2016)" from the film "Shin Godzilla," standing at an impressive 20cm tall and slated for an October 2026 release.
The iteration of Godzilla featured in the movie "Shin Godzilla" was collaboratively designed by director Hideaki Anno, designer Mahiro Maeda, and sculptor Takayuki Takeya. This colossal creature is depicted as a "perfect organism" capable of rapid evolution and devolution, swiftly adapting to its environment and undergoing several transformations within hours of its initial landing in Japan. Godzilla possesses a "thermonuclear energy conversion organ" within its body, allowing it to generate immense energy and emit radioactive substances without the need for sustenance. In the film, after being attacked by U.S. bombers, Godzilla enters an awakened state, unleashing its atomic breath from its mouth, instantly incinerating Tokyo's bustling streets and demonstrating power far beyond human comprehension.
The "Nendoroid Large Godzilla (2016)" is based on the digital model of the standard Nendoroid version released in 2025. This new figure scales up the original 10cm height to a massive 20cm, presenting a unique blend of the Nendoroid's signature cuteness with the terrifying details of Shin Godzilla's Fourth Form. It features jagged teeth, a body emanating a red glow, tiny, horrifying pupils, and a massive tail with an alien-like face.
The limbs and the base of the tail are equipped with articulated joints, allowing for dynamic poses such as walking or sitting. However, it's important to note that accessories included with the standard Nendoroid version, such as the open jaw, heat-radiating organs for the awakened form, atomic breath effect, and explosion effect, are not included with this Nendoroid Large release.
