BANDAI Candy Japan recently announced the official end of production for its long-running "Cutie Figure" series of Pretty Cure candy toy models. Simultaneously, the company unveiled its upgraded concept line, the "Precure Star Gallery" series, with the first official product reveal coming from "Star Detective Precure!". This initial release will feature two waves, each available in a Standard Edition and a more elaborate Premium Bandai Edition. The Premium Bandai Editions are slated for a March 2027 release.
For more on the origins of the "Precure Star Gallery" series, you can refer to our previous report. This article will focus on the key features distinguishing the "Precure Star Gallery" from its predecessor, the "Cutie Figure" line. To address production costs, the development team opted for a strategy of "higher price, significantly higher specifications." To prevent prices from becoming prohibitive, they introduced a "Standard Retail Edition" with simplified paint applications and a "Premium Bandai Edition" boasting a more luxurious paint finish. The figures' height has been adjusted to approximately 11cm, a slight increase from the Cutie Figure's 10cm, allowing for more intricate sculpting and part separation. The most significant change, however, is the shift in target audience from "3 years and up" to "15 years and up," enabling the team to reproduce even more detailed model intricacies!
The first wave of "Precure Star Gallery" figures hails from the currently airing "Star Detective Precure!" series and will be released in two sets. The first set includes Cure Eclair, Cure Mystique, and Cure Arcana Shadow. The second set features Cure Arcana and Cure Answer. The Premium Bandai Editions distinguish themselves with unique facial expressions and hand poses compared to the Standard Editions. Both Cure Arcana Shadow and Cure Arcana are depicted holding their respective transformation devices. All five figures feature translucent gradient effects to recreate their hair, and the paint applications on various details are more refined and complete than the standard versions. The gold edges on their costumes are rendered with metallic paint, while some areas utilize a pearl paint effect. The undersides of their skirts even boast gradient spray painting, and each base is colored to match the character's signature hue, making the difference from the Standard Editions immediately apparent!
